Golden Mummies of Egypt
Golden Mummies of Egypt was an international touring exhibition that presented eight extraordinary mummies and examined beliefs about the afterlife when Egypt was part of the Greek and Roman worlds.
Drawing on over a century of research on Egyptian mummies led by the University of Manchester, which acquired many of its objects from archaeological excavations, the exhibition built on this legacy through the use of innovative visualisation technologies. Cutting-edge CT scans were brought to life, allowing visitors to look beneath the wrappings and gain new understanding of the mummies and the individuals they once were.
The exhibition toured to six museums in the USA, China and UK, and was seen by over one million visitors.
The exhibition was curated by Manchester Museum, and designed, produced and toured exclusively by Nomad Exhibitions.
